The developer/owner of the 54 W. Englewood property had – since the Spring of 2025, volunteered to develop a multi-unit residential property that would include 11 affordable housing units.  But that developer does not agree to construct that development facility to the specifications the Town approved in early 2026.

The developer has sued Teaneck seeking a change in those specifications. The case was assigned to Judge Corriston who is also the judge cwho must decide whether Teaneck has met its 4th Round affordable housing obligations and therefore has immunity from builders’ remedy litigation. Teaneck has appointed a new attorney firm to defend the Town in this 54 W. Englewood case.

Residents have been told virtually nothing – but Voices has been able to access the court docket for this case. That docket as it now exists is found in the image accessed below

Since June, 2026, there has been subsequent correspondence from both the plaintiffs attorney (developer’s attorney Steinhagen) and the defendant (the Township attorneys).

Most recently the Teaneck Township Attorney, Scott Salmon sent the following document to Judge Corriston on September 30, 2026.  He says the Township is not ready to agree to a consent document to settle the 54 W. Englewood dispute – and anticipates providing an additional statement about the Township’s position sometime after the judicial conference that Judge Corriston has set for October 20, 2026. Here is what Salmon sent to Judge Corriston on September 30, 20216:
